Recovery after injuries
For any athlete, having to leave a sport or take a break because of an injury can be physically and mentally challenging. First let's look at the mental side of it. Depending on the intensity of the sport, if you go from training several times a week to not at all, it can affect your emotions. Take it from me, when I was injured and had to take a month off from swimming, I was more irritable, I was way more stressed and overwhelmed, and I would act out at my friends and family. For people who get so used to working out and having endorphins pumping into the brain constantly, the body doesn’t know what to do so it starts acting out. There are ways to make these feelings go away. Talking to others is a great way to cope, your parents, friends or even therapists. Doing little workouts or going on runs/walks (depending on your injury) are good stress relievers, especially for athletes

Now, the recovery part is very tough. Not every injury will require you to take a break from sports but listen to your physician. They could refer you to many different treatment options such as taping the injury (if possible), taking medication, exercises, or stretches to relieve the pain. Eventually it'll be time to go back to your sport but take it slow, make sure to set reasonable goals and do not overdo it because now that you have gotten injured once it makes you twice as susceptible for reinjury.
